I discovered my biggest energy block at 2am on a Thursday, staring at the ceiling fan in my bedroom. That spinning motion hypnotized me into a realization – I’d been sabotaging myself for years with the same thought pattern, around and around like that fan.
The awareness hit like a thunderbolt. My body knew before my conscious mind caught up. Tight chest. Shallow breathing. A heaviness in my shoulders I’d grown so accustomed to, I forgot it wasn’t normal.
This invisible force had been quietly draining my manifestation power for years. And the wildest part? I had no idea it was happening.
In our journey through mastering the mind-body connection, energy blocks might be the most important yet overlooked aspect of manifestation work. These subtle barriers literally stand between you and everything you’re trying to create.
What the heck are energy blocks anyway?
Energy blocks are like invisible dams in your energetic system. They’re created when emotions get stuck, beliefs become rigid, or traumas remain unprocessed. Think of your body as a network of flowing energy rivers. When something blocks that flow – boom – manifestation power gets restricted.
Most of us operate at a fraction of our true energetic capacity. We’ve normalized feeling tired, heavy, or stuck in certain patterns. “That’s just how life is,” we tell ourselves. But that assumption itself is an energy block.
These blocks have physical effects too. Sharon always notices her shoulders creeping up toward her ears when she’s blocking abundance energy. I get a specific tension headache when I’m resisting a big opportunity. Our bodies speak a clear language if we learn to listen.
The tricky thing about energy blocks is they often disguise themselves as reasonable thoughts. “I’m just being realistic” or “I’m protecting myself from disappointment” sound smart, but they’re usually fancy packaging for fear.

You might have energy blocks if…
Let’s get practical. Energy blocks leave clues everywhere once you know what to look for.
Do certain topics make your body physically tense up? Maybe money conversations cause your jaw to clench. Or talking about your dreams makes your stomach knot. These aren’t random reactions – they’re your body showing you where energy isn’t flowing freely.
Repetitive life patterns are another massive red flag. If you keep attracting the same difficult relationship dynamics or hitting the same income ceiling year after year, that’s not bad luck. It’s an energy pattern playing on repeat.
Language patterns tell us a lot too. Listen to yourself next time you talk about your dreams. Phrases like “I’ll try” or “hopefully someday” or “if things work out” signal energetic hesitation.
The most telling sign? Areas where you have knowledge but no results. When you know exactly what to do but still don’t do it – that’s not laziness. It’s an energy block.
Your energy blocks didn’t start with you
This might be the most important thing I’ll say in this entire post: Most of your energy blocks aren’t even yours.
They’re inherited. Absorbed. Picked up like energetic secondhand smoke.
Your family’s beliefs about money. Your culture’s ideas about success. Your early experiences with authority figures. Your first heartbreak. That random comment from a teacher in third grade. All of these shaped your energetic pathways long before you had any say in the matter.
I realized my biggest abundance block came directly from my grandfather, who lived through the Depression. His survival-based fear around money made perfect sense in his time. But I inherited that energy without the context, carrying a fear that wasn’t mine to begin with.
Understanding this helps remove shame around our blocks. These aren’t character flaws – they’re energetic patterns we absorbed while learning to navigate the world.
Finding your personal energy fingerprint
Time for some detective work. Your energy blocks have a unique signature – a specific way they show up in your body, emotions, and life patterns.
Start with a simple body scan meditation. Sit quietly and mentally travel through your body, noticing areas of tension, heaviness, or discomfort. These physical sensations are often the most reliable indicators of blocked energy.
Then connect these physical sensations to specific topics or situations. Does thinking about your business goals create tension in your throat? That’s your body saying something about expression or speaking your truth is blocked.
Journaling helps tremendously here. Write about your recurring dreams, fears, or frustrations. Look for patterns – the same themes appearing in different areas of life.
Ask yourself tough questions: “Where do I feel helpless?” “What goals have I given up on?” “What patterns keep repeating despite my best efforts?” The answers point directly to your energy blocks.
One powerful exercise: identify your “yeah, but” responses. Whenever you feel resistance to possibility in the form of “yeah, but that won’t work because…” – you’ve found a block.
Breaking the dam: Energy release techniques that actually work
Knowing about your energy blocks is only half the battle. Now comes the fun part – breaking them down.
The body holds these blocks physically, so physical movement is often the fastest path to release. Not just any movement – specific, intentional movement that targets the blocked areas.
Try this right now: Think of a goal that feels blocked. Notice where tension shows up in your body. Then physically shake that part of your body while making a sound – any sound. This sounds ridiculous (and feels ridiculous too), but it’s incredibly effective at disrupting stuck energy patterns.
Breathing techniques target energy blocks directly. When you find a blocked area, send your breath intentionally to that space. Imagine the breath as light or water, dissolving the blockage with each inhale and exhale.
Emotional release works wonders too. Many energy blocks form because we judged certain emotions as unacceptable and suppressed them. Finding safe ways to express those emotions – through movement, sound, art, or with trusted support – can create breakthrough shifts.
Consistency matters more than intensity here. Five minutes of daily energy work creates more lasting change than an occasional three-hour session. Small, persistent efforts literally rewire your energetic pathways over time.
When the blocks start dissolving
Energy blocks don’t usually disappear in one dramatic moment (though that can happen). More often, they dissolve gradually, with subtle shifts you might miss if you’re not paying attention.
You’ll notice things feel easier. Less friction. Less resistance. A sense of flow replacing the familiar struggle.
New possibilities appear that weren’t visible before. People, opportunities, and ideas seem to show up at precisely the right moment.
Your manifestations accelerate. Things that took massive effort before start happening with remarkable ease. This isn’t magic – it’s simply the result of removing the energetic interference that was slowing everything down.
Physical changes often accompany this shift. Better sleep. More energy. Fewer random aches and pains. Many chronic physical issues have energetic components that ease when blocks dissolve.
But the most beautiful change? You feel more fully yourself. As if parts of your authentic nature that were dampened or hidden can finally express freely. There’s a homecoming quality to energy clearing work that goes beyond specific manifestations.

The circle keeps turning
Clearing energy blocks isn’t a one-and-done process. It’s cyclical, ongoing work. As you grow and evolve, new layers reveal themselves. Each level of success brings its own unique blocks to work through.
This isn’t bad news – it’s actually encouraging. When new blocks emerge, it means you’ve expanded beyond your previous limitations. Each block is an invitation to greater freedom and power.
The tools remain the same: awareness, physical techniques, emotional release, consistent practice. But your skill with these tools deepens over time. You learn your unique patterns and how to work with them effectively.
The most powerful approach? Building energy maintenance into your daily routine, just like brushing your teeth or drinking water. Small daily practices prevent blocks from solidifying in the first place.
Remember the ceiling fan I mentioned at the beginning? I now use it as a meditation focal point – a reminder that energy is meant to flow freely, continuously, without obstruction. And when I notice a block forming, I know exactly how to set it free.
